Westport Oregon Fire and Rescue

Through Oregon State Fire Marshal funding, Westport Fire & Rescue is seeking applicants to fill one or more seasonal positions. The duties of the positions include, but are not limited to, responding to fire and emergency medical incidents, driving fire apparatus, hydrant and draft site clean up, station maintenance, and other duties as assigned by the fire chief. This is an hourly position with a schedule of up to five six-hour shifts per week. The wage is $22.00 per hour. The employee shall have completed the minimum training requirements for NWCG Firefighter Type 2. Desired qualifications are NFPA Firefighter I and Oregon Emergency Medical Responder license or above. A public meeting of the  Westport -Wauna Rural Fire Protection District will be held on June 17, 2026 at 6:30pm at the Westport Community Center, Westport,  Oregon. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026 as approved by the Westport-Wauna RFPD Budget Committee.  A summary of the budget is presented below.

The June Meeting of the Board of Directors will be held following the budget hearing. Virtual attendance is available. Please email Chief Wiggins at wigginsg@westportfireor.com at least 24 hours prior to the meeting and a link will be sent to you.

Oregon Department of Forestry has announced that NW Oregon zones NW1, NW2, and NW3 will be entering Fire Season on MONDAY, JUNE 15, 2026. Debris burning is prohibited during this time. Please contact Oregon Department of Forestry – Astoria if you have questions. 503-325-5451.

The February meeting of the Westport-Wauna RFPD board of directors will be held on February 11, 2026, 7:00pm at the Westport Community Center, 91177 Westport Ferry Rd.

The January Board of Directors meeting for the Westport-Wauna RFPD will meet on January 15, 2026, at 7:00 pm. Meetings are held at the Westport Community Center (attached to fire station), 91177 Westport Ferry Rd, Westport, OR 97016.

The July Board Meeting of the directors of the Westport-Wauna RFPD will meet on July 9th at our regular time.

Our next board meeting will be on June 12 at 6:30 pm. This meeting will include our budget hearing. We will then move into our regular meeting. The agenda will include approval of the Fiscal Year 25-26 budget and report on operations.

Westport-Wauna RFPD will have a Budget Committee Meeting on May 8, 2025 at 6:30 pm. The regular board meeting will follow at 7:00 pm or when the Budget Committee Meeting finishes, whichever is later.

The Board of Directors meeting of the Westport-Wauna RFPD for April has been changed to Wednesday, April 16th at 7:00 pm.
